Favourite way to catch Largemouth - It would have to be either a top water bait or punching heavy cover!

Tell us a little about yourself..

Together with my wife and my son, we run a small Auto Electrical and Repair workshop in Chinchilla, M&J Auto Solutions. After moving back from the US, we started our business up about 15 years ago. Together with our 2 daughters, we’ve built our family and business here on the western downs.

How did your fishing journey begin?

As a young avid fisho, I used to spend most weekends on Boondooma dam in the South Burnett region. Being that our home property was only a short distance away, I would convince my parents to drop me off at the dam ( along with a little hire boat from the local boat hire place ) and then they would return at the days end to retrieve me. If I couldn’t convince them to take me to the dam I would dig some worms and go bob some spangle perch from our lagoon. Fishing and hunting has always been a strong passion of mine and the thrill of the hunt above and below the water is still as strong as ever.

What does representing Australia mean to you?

The opportunity to represent my country is without a doubt the biggest achievement in my fishing career. Definitely a proud moment for us all individually, but also to be travelling around, competing with your fellow teammates is an absolute honour. Not to mention the chance to compete with and against some of the best anglers in the world.

What achievement in fishing are you most proud of?

My most proud moment would have to be getting the call up to fish for Team Australia in 2024. As it was my first time competing for my country, I wasn’t sure on how it would all go and how we were all going to mesh as a team. I remember feeling so proud to make it up onto the podium, with team Australia taking the silver and only very narrowly missing out on the gold medal!

What are you most looking forward to about competing in the USA?

Really looking forward to competing in the US year.  Lake Hamilton should set up well for our style of fishing, and as a team we have proven we can nut out a solid plan on any body of water.

Favourite Fishing Destination in the World -  My home lagoon ( take me back to the day, bobbing for spangle perch with not a worry in the world! )
